Fire Dogs

Dear world,
While on our road trip we were reminded of the fire danger in the Western United States. So Annie had an idea that we should help in some way. So she decided that we should be fire dogs to  to help raise awareness for what Smokey the Bear says "Only YOU can prevent wildfires.".  I thought Annie had a brilliant idea. So now, we are self appointed Fire Dogs.

Yosemite: Glacier Point

Our final stop was Glacier Point - an overlook with a breathtaking view of Yosemite.  I posed as several people wanted to take pictures of me in front of this panoramic view.  Once they were done, I thought I would try a selfie. That ended up to be my favorite shot of the trip!

Yosemite : Hike

Well of course we had to do some hiking while at Yosemite. So after taking a beautiful hike for about an hour, we were so happy to get a chance to rest. Unbeknownst to us, a squirrel was eyeing our bags that had our treats! It is not just the bears that you need to watch out for at Yosemite!

Yosemite : El Capitan

Another fab photo op in Yosemite was a direct view of El Capitan - the largest monolith of granite in the world rising 3000 feet above the Valley floor! I thought I would use this scenic opportunity to help Annie with her posing. First I demonstrated a charming princess pose.  Then it was Annie's turn. I am not quite sure why she chose to accentuate her ears, not her best look.

Yosemite

Our road trip took us to Yosemite! We arrived at Tenaya Lodge, a pretty hotel that is so princess and dog friendly! Then we drove into Yosemite National Park. After driving through beautiful forest we went through a granite tunnel and came to our first OMP photo op. Tunnel View viewpoint of Yosemite Valley. How stunning! (Thanks, but I am referring to the scenery!)

Road Trip !

Dear world,
Annie and I are so excited! We are going on a road trip! I made sure we were prepared with new back packs. I got Annie a penguin to keep her treats in. I got myself a fab pink strawberry backpack to keep some snacks and my tiaras. Stay tuned for my road trip posts!

Swimming Lessons

Dear world,
Annie has been coming along very well with her Princess School Swimming Lessons. She has learned to look more graceful by keeping her head up and toning down her paw splashes. I think the confidence building lessons have also made a big difference. Now she just needs to have a more Princess like finish instead of shaking and splashing all over the place once out of the pool.

What Pet Should I Get?

Dear world,
Annie asked me to read her the new Dr. Seuss book “What Pet Should I Get?” .  Afterward she said that since she is my pet, it is only fair that she has a pet.  So I suggested going to Pet Smart thinking maybe a tuna fish. But instead, she decided what pet she wanted when she saw Donatello, the ferret. Luckily he belonged to someone, cause she would have been really upset when Mom said no.

Back to La Jolla

The other day we went back to La Jolla.  After getting scared last time, Annie was very brave to say hello to the sea lions again.

And then when taking pics I saw that she listened to my instructions and had a much improved pose from the other day.  Great going Annie!

Clear the Shelters

Dear world,
Tomorrow is Clear The Shelters Day around the country. Do you know that only 20% of people looking for a pet go to shelters! Isn’t that terrible?! We went to the Orange County shelter almost 3 years ago to get my Cocker Spaniel Annie. There are so many pure bred dogs in shelters! And everyone thinks  my niece Bunnybell is some fancy designer dog- well, she is a mutt and she came from a shelter too! There are so many dogs and cats of all ages and sizes that need loving homes… and they are just as fab as those you get when you shop. I think shelter pets are even better—because they are full of extra love and gratitude since they understand that you saved them!  So please go visit your local shelter to find a new fur member for your family. Remember – adopt don't shop!

Rosy

PS- I never was in a shelter because Mommy found me on the streets of Memphis before I became a shelter dog.

Bob Hope

Dear world,
As we continued our walk on the harbor we came across another fab sculpture.. A National Salute to Bob Hope and the Military . We walked right in the middle to try to feel what it must have been like for all the great military people in all different wars to be entertained by Mr. Hope. Its so nice for people, dogs and princesses to learn about history from these outdoor sculptures. Thanks for the memory!

Unconditional Surrender

The other day we took a walk along the harbor. As we approached the Midway Museum we saw this fab statue of a sailor kissing a nurse. Daddy explained that the sculpture is called Unconditional Surrender by Seward Johnson.  It resembles a photograph by Alfred Eisenstaedt, V–J day in Times Square that depicted the joy Americans felt when WWII ended. I thought that was interesting. Annie was perplexed by the giant people until I explained that it was only the sculpture. The real people were not actually 25 feet tall.

Book Lovers Day

Today is Book Lovers Day. So I thought it would be good to read to Annie to encourage her to love reading like I do. l picked out my favorite books. I especially love reading about the Fifi the Grand Parisian Poodle. My other fave is Cinderella. It has such an inspirational ending. I just love when girls become Princesses! What's your favorite book?

Tidepools

Dear world,
After Seaport Village we went to visit the Tidepools at Cabrillo National Monument.  The tide was high so we didn’t go down to explore the squishy stuff. But it was a fab place for a photo-shoot. However, I noticed that I really need to teach Annie how to pose like a lady when she is being held.

Seaport Village

Dear world,
We had such a nice day yesterday. We took my Aunt Kathy to Seaport Village for lunch.  I just love sitting at a café! Afterward I suggested we all rent a bike, but there wasn't a basket big enough for Annie. I think that is bordering on discrimination, don't you?
