Dog Day Afternoon

To celebrate National Dog Day yesterday, I decided to take Annie and Bunnybell to Seaport Village. I told them we will walk around first to see the cute shops then go to lunch at Sally's.

Annie loved the Dog Menu. She chose the Sally's Famous Pupcakes.

After studying the menu, Bunnybell also chose the Pupcakes.

When the pupcakes arrived, Annie and Bunnybell dug right in. I on the other paw shared crab salad with my Mommy!

Sea Lions

Yesterday we went to La Jolla Cove .  Annie wanted to go see the seals and sea lions up close so Mommy took her on the rocks. Of course, Annie had to pose for Mommy.

Then Annie heard one of the big sea lions barking and thought she would go say hello. Then the sea lion saw her and started barking more and coming toward her. Annie didn't understand why Mommy pulled her away and immediately left. Annie thought -Wasn't the sea lion just being friendly?

A Day in La Jolla

Recently we went to La Jolla for the day. We love walking around the cove and seeing the sea lions. (See them laying on the rocks down below?)

Lots of people go down there to see them up close. Annie got scared the last time we were here so we didn't go down to the rocks this time.
Then we went into town and there was an art festival going on. And we saw the most bizzare thing. All these kids were painting a big limo ! I kept my distance because I didn't want them to move onto poodle painting!

A Visit to Julian

Last week we went to Julian - an adorable little historic Western town an hour east of San Diego in the beautiful Cuyamaca mountains. There are so many cute shops. Our fave was The Warm Hearth that had so much fab stuff! Annie sniffed around everything and chose a toy bear to bring home. I found this adorable antique truck just my size. I did not buy it since it was actually a cooler, and I didnt have $500!

Next, it was time to eat. There are lots of cute little restaurants. First we went for a yum breakfast to Granny's and sat on the dog friendly patio. Then , of course, we had to go to the Julian Pie Company for their famous pies. OMP! Did that make Daddy happy!

And as we walked back to our car, I saw the perfect photo op. I had Annie go into the old time jail and pose. Isn't she just criminally adorable?  What a fun day!

Bates Nut Farm

Recently we visited Bates Nut Farm. The store had so many nuts!

Then we made friends with sheep and goats. Two of them came to meet me and give me a kiss. I was polite but I thought they had a weird odor.

Annie on the other paw loved the goats and the feeling was obviously requited .

The Cardiff Kook

The other day we were in Cardiff-by-the-Sea and saw this very unusual statue. So I asked a local about it and he said it is named The Magic Carpet Ride, but everyone calls it The Cardiff Kook. Most of the surfing community doesn't like it cause they say it looks like a novice surfer that is about to fall off his board. People often dress him up in all sorts of gear. That day he was in Del Mar Racing garb since it is Racing season.

I want to come back and see the Kook in October - he must look fab in Pink !

V-J Day

Today is the 71st anniversary of V-J Day.  So we thought we would revisit the fab statue at the San Diego harbor. The sculpture is called Unconditional Surrender by Seward Johnson. It depicts the photograph V–J day in Times Square that showed the joy Americans felt when WWII ended. Annie was perplexed by the giant people until I explained that it was only the sculpture. The real people were not actually 25 feet tall.
Happy V-J Day!

There are15 major museums, renowned performing arts venues, beautiful gardens and the famous and fab San Diego Zoo. It even has two fab off leash dog parks! It really is a must see when you come to San Diego, that is after seeing me of course!

Bark in Balboa Park

Dear world,
On Valentines Day we went to Bark in Balboa Park at the Spreckles Organ Pavillion. It was so fun! All different songs were played on the GIANT organ. Then those dressed in Valentine garb were invited to parade across across the stage. Of course I was the best in show on that one! Then they had all other dogs up on stage and thats when Annie paraded. Afterward, fab dogs from the San Diego Humane Society that need forever homes came up on stage. So nice!.I hope the Humane Society raised lots of money and the dogs attracted their forever Mommies and/or Daddies.

Back to La Jolla

The other day we went back to La Jolla.  After getting scared last time, Annie was very brave to say hello to the sea lions again.

And then when taking pics I saw that she listened to my instructions and had a much improved pose from the other day.  Great going Annie!

Bob Hope

Dear world,
As we continued our walk on the harbor we came across another fab sculpture.. A National Salute to Bob Hope and the Military . We walked right in the middle to try to feel what it must have been like for all the great military people in all different wars to be entertained by Mr. Hope. Its so nice for people, dogs and princesses to learn about history from these outdoor sculptures. Thanks for the memory!

Unconditional Surrender

The other day we took a walk along the harbor. As we approached the Midway Museum we saw this fab statue of a sailor kissing a nurse. Daddy explained that the sculpture is called Unconditional Surrender by Seward Johnson.  It resembles a photograph by Alfred Eisenstaedt, V–J day in Times Square that depicted the joy Americans felt when WWII ended. I thought that was interesting. Annie was perplexed by the giant people until I explained that it was only the sculpture. The real people were not actually 25 feet tall.

Tidepools

Dear world,
After Seaport Village we went to visit the Tidepools at Cabrillo National Monument.  The tide was high so we didn’t go down to explore the squishy stuff. But it was a fab place for a photo-shoot. However, I noticed that I really need to teach Annie how to pose like a lady when she is being held.

Opening Day at Del Mar

Dear world,
Its Opening Day at Del Mar Racetrack. It is such a fabulous scene. Since no canines are allowed, I thought maybe we could sneak into the paddock. Then once we were in we would blend right in with all the fashionable ladies. The only problem is that Annie likes to bark at horses. So I am not so sure this plan will work.

La Jolla Cove

The other day we went for a stroll at La Jolla Cove. Mommy took us on the rocks to get up close to sea lions. Annie was really interested in them.

But when the waves splashed near us against the rocks she ran behind Mommy. What happened to her sense of adventure?

A new book club

Last weekend, we got to meet our wonderful blogger friend, Sugar.  We had a beautiful stroll with our Mommys and Daddys along the cove in La Jolla.

Then we got to chat among just us girls and we decided we should form a book club.

Our first book club selection is Sugar's book, Sugar's Furry Friend. We just started reading it and it is fabulous already. Cant wait to discuss it at our meeting in January. Would you like to join us?

#AtoZChallenge : L is for ….

Dear world,
Continuing with my blog challenge, since we live in San Diego, we knew what L stood for… LEGOLAND of course ! Human kids love the 128 acre LEGOLAND park with 60 attractions and 22,000 LEGO models created from over 50 million LEGO bricks! They even have a cool Legoland hotel now! While we couldn't go in the park, we did meet a LEGO man on his horse. Annie was a bit concerned by the horse's large size, but I assured her that the man was in full control of his horse.
