Passover

Tonight is the start of Passover. So we are having a Sedar tonight. Mom is getting stuff ready, so hasn't filled the Sedar plate yet. 

In the meantime I thought I would have some Matzoh. I think tomorrow I will ask Mom to put some peanut butter on it !

Hanukkah !

It's Hanukkah ! We are all ready to light candles! I explained to Teddy that there are eight nights of Hanukkah. Since tonight is the first night we will light one candle.

Teddy wanted to know why there were nine candles on the menorah. I barked that the middle candle is the shamash or the helper candle that we use to light the other candles.

Then Mom placed the latkes (potato pancakes) in front of us with sour cream and apple sauce.

First we tasted the sour cream cause we thought it would taste like whipped cream. Nope. Not fans. And we didn't like the smell of the apple sauce. But the latkes ?

Those are YUM !!!

First Passover

With Rosy not around showing me what to do, I ordered a book called My First Passover.  Since today is the first night of Passover, I thought Teddy and I should get out the book and the Passover stuff.

I was trying to figure out what to put on the Seder plate, but all Teddy wanted to do was open the Matzoh.

 So Mom opened the Matzoh for us and put in on a plate. Teddy grabbed it before I even got to sniff it! Oh boy, does he have a lot to learn, and I don't just mean about Passover !

Hope all that celebrate have a happy Passover. If you are looking for the hidden Afikoman and Teddy is around, he has probably found it already !

It's Hanukkah !

Its the first night of Hanukkah. Mommy made the Latkes for us. I put two candles in my new pink castle menorah (one of my Hanukkah presents! Isn't it fab?) I started telling Annie the story of Hanukkah .

OMP! She fell asleep on the story! Well anyway. I woke her up to tell her it was time for Latkes! (In case you don't know, Latkes are super yum potato pancakes. A Hanukkah eating tradition!)

 I put her plate of Latkes infront of her. Her tastebuds must be off. She thought they looked and smelled weird.

Not me! I just adore Latkes. They are so beyond delish ! For those who celebrate, hope you have a happy and yummy Hanukkah ! For those that don't, at least try some Latkes. They are so fab!

Rosh Hashanah

Tonight begins the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah. Annie, Bunnybell and I  are celebrating with traditional foods to bring in the New Year. Challah bread, apples, honey and a pomegranate!. 

I know I should have first gone for the apples and honey symbolizing a sweet year ahead, but I love carbs, and I just couldn't resist that giant Challah!

The next thing I know, Annie and Bunnybell are joining me!

Passover

Tonight is the first night of eight nights of Passover. So I asked Annie what she remembers about Passover.  She barked that Passover celebrates the exodus of the Jews from slavery in Egypt a super long time ago. Good Annie! What else do you remember? Annie barked that there are lots of weird foods on a plate that represent stuff in the Passover story. Great Annie! What else? Annie barked that its a long wait for dinner to be served but we get  yummy brisket . That's her fave part of Passover of course! Happy Passover!

Purim with Family

Today we got to celebrate Purim with my fab cousin Stephen and his beautiful girlfriend Megan. Purim honors the day the Queen of Persia, Esther, saved the Jewish people from execution by the mean man Haman, the advisor to the Persian king. A traditional food of Purim is Hamantaschen, said to look like Haman's tri-cornered hat or ears. So I prepared a plate of these delish triangle treats. 

We were all going to sit and eat together, but Annie as usual just couldn't wait!

Happy Hanukkah!

Tonight is the first night of Hanukkah. So Annie and I are ready to light the first candle on the menorah and eat our cookies. The holiday starts at sundown tonight. We will do more posts about Hanukkah since there are eight nights of celebration. We are so lucky our family celebrates both Jewish and Christian holidays. So tomorrow we will also say Merry Christmas!  Happy Hanukkah!

Shana Tovah

Tonight is Rosh Hashanah. Rosh means ‘The Start’ and Hashanah means ‘The Year”, hence, the beginning of the Jewish New Year! Its 5777 ! We eat Apples and Honey cause we want to have a super duper sweet year.  And now Annie and I want to say to all our friends and family that celebrate – Shana Tovah – which means "We hope you have a good and sweet year! "
